Undīne Ābiķe is a Latvian artist whose work spans various mediums, including drawing, painting, printmaking, textiles, and embroidery. After graduating in Graphic Art and Printmaking from the Art Academy of Latvia, she has focused on preserving traditional techniques while adapting them to contemporary contexts. Currently, her primary passion lies in watercolor techniques, through which she expresses her emotions and ideas.
Ābiķe views art as a powerful tool for raising awareness of societal issues, such as stigma, anxiety, and mental health challenges. She is deeply invested in exploring human relationships with both the inner and outer worlds, including connections to nature, dreams, fears, and weaknesses. In her work, she conveys these themes using a visual language that reflects her thoughts and feelings at a given moment. Eschewing a fixed artistic style, she allows her intuition to guide each piece, adapting her approach according to the concept at hand. For Ābiķe, art is a dynamic process that evolves with her own personal growth, and she believes that limiting her creativity would hinder her development as an artist.
